Photography
Even though I still use a point-and-shoot I’ve dropped on its head an illegal number of times, and am in no way trying to claim to be an actual photographer, I have an itch to document things around me, one that calls out to me every time I think about how much our landscape—even in rural America—is becoming increasingly homogenized by Miley-Marts and strip malls.
Throughout my entire life, I’ve felt a tension between feeling frustrated and hopeless and closterphobic in small-town Illinois, and yet at the very same time seeing deep beauty and value and unique authenticity to it. That’s what I”m going for here; hopefully the point comes across at least a little bit effectively.
